Indicator - Roadmap Health
The Roadmap provides guidance on the priorities for creating features in the product. It is aligned with the Vision and Purpose of the product. It shows the current view of how the work of the teams will be ranked and ordered to deliver the best value to our customers and colleagues. The set of Roadmap items in the most immediate time-frame and how they are ordered guides the content and ordering of work in the Product Backlog.
Considerations
The Roadmap typically defines 2 or more time-frames - for example Now, Next, and Later. The Product Owner and the team collaborate to ensure that there is sufficient engineering capability to deliver the content of the most immediate time-frame (the “Now” in Now, Next and Later).
The content of the roadmap is regularly negotiated with key stakeholders and evolves in response to changing business priorities described by the stakeholders. In the investment or budgeting process, the Roadmap is used as the basis for identifying forthcoming work and to assess the potential value of that work.
