How to Be Agile...

Understand Required Capacity

The capacity of the teams delivering a product constrains the rate at which new features can be added and feature improvements delivered. Sustaining capacity relative to demand over time is important because of the high cost of trying to change quickly. The rate of change of capacity is limited by the requirement for teams to adjust to changing membership and for new team members to acquire the ability to deliver.

Understand Required Capacity

In order to support teams in their plans to increase or decrease their capacity to deliver, the organisation must have a clear view of their capacity targets - the rate of delivery they want to support. The target capacity is established through an understanding of customers’ needs and the value that might be derived by meeting these needs. The organisation must also have a clear view of the product’s priority relative to the rest of the product porfolio.
